Cholesterol has been conceived as one of the leading causes of poor health, especially in regards to heart disease.  However, society's preconceived notions have been rather wrong, and that some basic knowledge may lead you to understand that cholesterol is not going to destroy our health at all.  So what is cholesterol exactly, and is it ultimately helping us maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle?  This soft, waxy substance is found not only in your bloodstream, but also in every cell in your body, where it helps to produce cell membranes, all your hormones, vitamin D and bile acids that help you to digest fat. Cholesterol also helps in the formation of your memories and is vital for neurological function.  One common misconception though, is that there are both pros and cons to cholesterol.  Yes, there is only one type of cholesterol, however there are different sizes:
 - High-density lipoprotein, or HDL: This is the "good" cholesterol that helps to keep cholesterol away from your arteries and remove any excess from arterial plaque, which may help to prevent heart disease.
 - Low-density lipoprotein, or LDL: This "bad" cholesterol circulates in your blood and, according to conventional thinking, may build up in your arteries, forming plaque that makes your arteries narrow and less flexible (a condition called atherosclerosis). If a clot forms in one of these narrowed arteries leading to your heart or brain, a heart attack or stroke may result.
Ultimately at the end of the day it is necessary to watch our daily diets and live a healthy lifestyle.  There are plenty of simple steps that can be taken to lower your cholesterol naturally.  Eating healthy food options such as eating a large portion of your food raw, for example avocados, raw nuts, seeds, eggs with lightly cooked yolks, and organic products.  Exercise, avoid smoking and drinking in excessive amounts, also reduce the level of grains and sugars within your daily diet.  To sum it up, the healthier you eat, the better off you are.  Not only are you naturally lowering your cholesterol, but you are on the road to a healthier lifestyle.
Remember, 70% of all the cholesterol in the blood is produced in the liver.  Elevated cholesterol is the body's deliberate intelligent attempt to help it cope with some perceived stressors.  Sensing that there is a great need for hormones, stress hormones, or anything else it gets metabolized too, it deliberately makes more.  SO if your cholesterol is elevated (barring relatively rare familiar elevations) find out why your body is under stress and work on fixing that.  Remember elevated cholesterol. Is a symptom of another  issue you have.
